AFTER CARE
To achieve the best results from your cosmetic treatment by Malinda at AWIM she recommends the instructions below.

It is always good to drink water regularly throughout the day. Once there is no evidence of bleeding, makeup may be applied if necessary 1 hour after your treatment. Mineral or water based is preferable

Treatments should be viewed as a collaborative ongoing process over time.

DERMAL FILLER
For the first 2 hours after your treatment

Around the injected area you will have diminished pain and temperature sensation.
For the first 24 hours after your treatment
-
Apply a cool compress for a few minutes at a time, if needed

Avoid massaging or putting any pressure on the treated areas
-
If a bruise should appear avoid alcohol
-
If a bruise should appear avoid strenuous exercise & extreme hot temperatures
-
Avoid lotions and serums that include AHA’s, retinols and vitamin C
-
If a bruise should appear, avoid blood thinning medications such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, etc. unless otherwise specified by your medical practitioner.

Sleep elevated on 2-3 pillows to minimise any swelling, bruising or pain (especially when lips are treated).
For the following 2 weeks after treatment

Avoid facials, peels and microdermabrasion

Avoid waxing in treated areas
-
Avoid laser treatment around treated areas
-
Avoid any unnecessary dental work
-
Avoid liquid nitrogen (dry ice) around area treated areas
Temporary side effects that can occur
-
Pain, swelling, inflammation, redness, firmness
-
Bruising (Hirudoid cream may be regularly applied, available from pharmacy)

Feeling of lumps under the skin

If you are susceptible to cold sores you may develop an outbreak triggered by the procedure around the lips. You are encouraged to prophylactically take Famvir 500mg x 3 (available from pharmacy)
Extremely rare side effect
-
In extremely rare cases the product can block an artery causing blindness (less than 0.001%) and/ or reducing blood supply to the skin, the localised area affected will be extremely painful and discoloured and the product will need to be dissolved with Hyalase Injection.

The effects of the treatment are immediately visible and depending on the type of the product chosen, may continue to improve over the following 3 weeks.

All fillers used by AWIM are long lasting but not permanent and therefore may be re-injected. The longevity of fillers increases with repeated use, initial follow-up treatments usually occur at 6-12 months.
BOTULINUM TOXIN TYPE A
After the first hour of your treatment

Gently exercise the injected muscles every 10 minute to encourage the product to diffuse and to optimise the results.

As soon as there is no evidence of bleeding, makeup may be applied if necessary. Mineral or water-based makeup is preferable
For the first 4 hours after your treatment
-
Avoid rubbing / massaging or putting any pressure on the treated areas
-
You may lie down but keep your face upright
-
Do not have a facial or body massage
-
If a bruise should appear avoid alcohol
-
If a bruise should appear avoid strenuous exercise and extreme heat
Temporary side effects that can occur

Redness and tenderness,
-
Bruising, Hirudoid cream may be regularly applied (available from pharmacy)

Headache (if you are prone to them)
-
Rare side effects: asymmetry, drooping of eyebrow or eyelid
The onset effects of the anti-wrinkle injections usually begin at day 3 to 7, the full effect can take up to 14 days.
The treatment should last 3 to 4 months.
Individual results may vary depending on the treated area, the dose given, the strength of the muscles in and around the treated area and whether you have been treated before.
It is recommended that you have treatments repeated regularly, to obtain the best results and avoid any static/ permanent lines as each case is different and the product is not permanent.
